Rules for Blogging

1. Do not give out information more personal than your first name.
2. Do not post pictures of yourself or your classmates.
3. Do not plagiarize but rather expand on others' ideas and give credit where it is due.
4. Only use language that would be appropriate for school.
5. Respect your fellow students and their writing.
6. Only post writing that you feel comfortable with everyone seeing.
7. Never post derogatory or inflammatory remarks.
8. Use constructive, positive, purposeful criticism, supported by valid evidence.
9. Only post comments and ideas that are meaningful and contribute to academic development.
10. Use formal language, not text lingo, when posting online.
11. Do not use your blog posts or comments as a chat room.
12. Do not bully or provoke others in your posts or your comments.
13. Never access another student's account and make changes to his/her site.
14. Be proactive in monitoring the comments that others leave on your blog, and forward any inappropriate comments to Mrs. Patalano.
15. Personalize your blog and keep your writing authentic.
16. Only post photos which are school appropriate and either not copyrighted or correctly cited.
17. Do not spam.
18. Only post comments on posts that I have fully read, rather than just skimmed.
19. Do not reveal anyone else's identity in your comments or posts.
20. Understand that anything you post online is an extension of the classroom; therefore, anything posted that violates school rules will result in disciplinary action.
